Walk in wardrobe & ensuite

Hi,
I have decided to turn this small room in my loft into a walk-in wardrobe, dressing table & somehow add shower/toilet & basin. Any ideas how to utilise this space the best? The door (with 3 stairs down) is on the left of this picture & the photo is taken from what will be a large window. Any advice on layout, much appreciated!

OK questions first!
Do you want natural daylight in your bathroom and/or dressing area? If so, the windows will be key in your floor plan. If not you can play more with the space.

And do you need to make the bathroom totally private? Could you use a glass wall?

You need a 60 cm depth for a run of rails or wardrobes, and you could use the low headroom areas cleverly for storage. How much depends on the quantity of clothes....have you measured what you need to store in rail width, rail height (coats, long dresses etc)?

Just typed a massive reply which seems to have been deleted....
Firstly, doesn't worry me RE natural lighting although first thoughts would be that bathroom needs ventilation?
Glass ok while a single woman but don't think it's right for a couple to have that so think I need to build for long term plan (?) . Also thought could create more cupboard space if walls rather than glass as could utilise the partitions.
On another note, the room the joins this is the mast bedroom- is it better to add the bathroom there & make this room purely for wardrobe/dressing?!

I like Jonathon’s first drawing for a couple of reasons. You can have a walk in wardrobe for all the hanging clothes, which can end up looking a bit messy, and have the more traditional type of wardrobe for items that can be boxed up, such as handbags and shoes, and folded clothes / drawer items. I think a walk in wardrobe is better without a window as natural light can fade clothes, so much better to have a bright bathroom with 2 windows. Finally, as you’re building the internal walls from scratch you could look into having a pocket door system into the en suite thereby preventing a swinging door getting in the way of either the wardrobe or the shower.

It really comes down to how many clothes you have and how much space you need to store them, along with where you prefer to get dressed and how you use your ensuite - obviously no point having double sink if you never share the bathroom, but if you're brushing your teeth while the other half is doing their thing in the next sink then this bigger ensuite might work better for you. It all depends on how you want to live, how much stuff you have and where you want to store it. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond Jonathan, I really appreciate the input. My husband is kind of set on a balcony as we can see the river and he wants to be able to sit there with a cup of tea 😜. I don’t mind either way really, I just didn’t want to have chairs in the bedroom as I thought that would look odd? Your ideas have brought up an issue in my mind though about the balcony/possible seating for this view and the fact that we will need to keep moving it around when we open and close the doors. With the side window, the house is under a national trust covenant and so the side window is really there to look a little more aesthetically pleasing and to match downstairs. I know it seems to waste that whole wall though.

If you have the space to install a bathroom in your master bedroom area in order to leave this free for a walk-in dressing room then I would agree with the idea as this room seems perfect and looks like it could be very attractive. Remember to include as many long mirrors as possible and some good handbag, shoe and boot storage.

(Many people are now placing baths in their master bedrooms for the whole spa-type atmosphere.)
