I have put too many LED spotlights in my new kitchen extension
Comments (13)Thank you everyone, I sincerely appreciate all your interest and advice. Since I posted last week the electrician has installed a piece of kit that allows one of the circuits of 12 spots to dim to dark. It's called a Hamilton GRID-IT LED dimmer. The same piece of kit has not worked for the other circuit of 18 spots. As instructed by my electrician I have returned the fitting to get a replacement as he thinks it may be faulty. We will try again next week. I have attached a photo of as much of the ceiling for you to see for yourselves. Jonathan, thank you so much. The ceiling is the bog standard 'Brilliant White' but the walls are Farrow and Ball 'Strong White' which is a very pale grey which has helped reduce the dazzle. I will look into toning down the ceiling too. I hadn't thought of that, so thanks again. Clever, thanks for all your interest. I can't find the technical details of the spot or the dimmer but have attached a photo of the spot. As mentioned above, only the circuit of 18 in the extension doesn't dim to dark now, but the electrician is going to try and fit a replacement dimmer next week. Thank you so much. Source, thank you, I did wonder if that is possible. I'm not sure if my budget can stretch to that but in some ways I think that would be the best solution. I will ask my very patient builder to quote. Thanks again....See MoreHow Many Pieces of Artwork Do You Have Around Your Home?
Comments (20)We have some bonkers stuff around - cameraless photos of mushrooms by the very talented Susan Derges. Jason Martin's painting on aluminium. The spectators triptych - I've always refused to sleep in that guest bedroom because of the creepy feeling that they would be staring at me all night. Some scary Kabuki prints (they really scare me!! I told him we are divorcing if those prints leave his office): And many more (iSAW, you are to blame for encouraging me to post photos... I just love posting photos...) :))...See MoreHow many bathrooms do you have in your home?
Comments (8)One bathroom per person + cloakroom for guests surely is convenient, but they all need maintenance. In an ideal world en-suit for each bedroom, a lush master bathroom and a guest bathroom, but in London's reality, an en-suit for master bedroom, family bathroom and a cloakroom for guests is just about enough....See Morewhat you’re glad you have/wish you’d had in your family home?
Comments (10)Decent sized bedrooms are good at any age - as younger children size is useful to accommodate toys and as teenagers they’re more likely to spend more time in their rooms so perhaps making them large enough for a small seating area as well would be good. Similarly, a separate ‘living’ space downstairs is also useful as a play room when they’re younger & somewhere for relaxing / games room when they’re older. We’re not keen on our children having the x box in their rooms do having an extra space downstairs for that is useful. A laundry room or utility is useful for all the extra washing children create to avoid having it all around the house on wet days. Garden size possibly depends on amenities close to you (parks, etc) but personally feel that as large a garden as possible really helps with primary age children. We chose our current house partly because of the garden size & style - plenty of lawned area. Our last garden was tiered with decks & patios - great for adult socialising but nowhere big enough to kick a ball. Bathrooms - a bath in at least one with shower over (or shower attachment) for hosing children down if necessary!...See Moreem2020
