Was the pond existing? If not how was it made? Prior to house build or before or in conjunction? Is it spring fed? Lined? If so with what? What type of maintenance? Thanks!

Thank you. The pond was built in conjunction with the home, is lined, and also used as a thermal mass for the geothermal heating system. Minimal maintenance and quite the fishery as well...

i would probably contact a builder who does loft conversions. they could do a window that is directly blow the top one or a design that would give more of a view. not quite sure what you mean by "open option rather than fixed frame". to do this might be quite expensive but whether the expense of work to roof and then redecorating is worth it, depends on how long you plan to keep the house and the value of the property itself.

Need help with inglenook fireplace

The rest of the house is nearly restored and we are down to one of the final stalling points, what to do with the main fireplace. I've attached some better photos. Since taking them I have made a start on stripping it back. I've removed all the old fabric from one of the chairs and sanded a section back. The dark finish is not ingrained in the wood so sands of relatively easily. I'm thinking I may as well have a go at painting it before my wife makes me take it out! Its not the main living room so we won't be using the room very often. Therefore I don't think it matters that it's not really practical.
