Just to offer a different view point. Your floor tiles look amazing. Why not flow the idea through and use tiles of that ilk as your splashblack. We have just recently finished a kitchen with a similar feel and our client opted for patterned wall tiles as their splashback. Based on your comment about the floor being chosen to banish boredom If you are worried about carrying through more of the same tones and want to inject colour, you could always do this through your accessories, that way if you fancy a change.... The colour tones you have chosen provide a great canvas on which to complement or have fun with colour.

As you have black granite or laminate, I can't tell from your pics I wouldn't go dark or bright or it will look very dated. Zellige tiles in white or off white would really lift it. I think white or light grey back painted glass would make it look more modern. It depends on whether you are looking for a stop gap solution or if that is the only element you wish to update. If you are doing the worktop too then taking the same material up the wall looks smart and is easy to clean.

Many thanks everyone. We are still working through this decision (amongst many others that come along with the work we are doing at home). We've seen some brick looking materials (can't remember the names) but they seem easier to clean. Also we've not discarded the option of using glass or not using 'bricks' at all, and your input has helped!

All Quartz varies in price but a slab starts at £1600 per slab but your choice could cost twice that. You need75inches which is over 4metres and so bigger than a 3 m slab. You will also be paying a cost for templating and fitting (often £500) and then VAT. So in conclusion your quote is credible, you could have selected a worktop that was significantly more and you might be able to trim a little off the price by selecting a cheaper worktop but cheaper normally means plain
