Please I need your advice on how to update a "yellowish" kitchen?
Comments (16)I was going to suggest to change the cabinets doors/handles and the plinths ? and keep the carcass, for the island replace or add on a side end panels matching the doors as it does in the picture? lets hang that out of the window for now but don t let go until your positive that you don t want it? firstly , the floors , if your planning to change just the tiles so it keeps the kitchen separated from the dinner/living ? brown wood style porcelain tile or going through out with the brown tiles For the walls Farrow & Ball ,Cooking Apple Green xxx it seems ,You have a backdated ? cooker/oven,extractor fan, microwave, fridge , it does remind me off some thing from Back To The Future , THEY NEED TO GO,stain less steel all the way Mosaic tiles, brown with a mix colours, above the kitchen work top upstands , or you can continue the paint for the walls i can t see the sink ,is it white?, probably you will need to up date it as well ? stainless steel and a its wise to get a deep base...See MoreIdeas on how to update a serving hatch/ kitchen hatch?
Comments (25)We had a serving hatch that we have opened up so we can use as a small breakfast bar - we didn’t want open plan as our dogs sleep in the kitchen if we have guests over. We also want the option to close it (if I get up in the night for a drink, the kitchen light wakes our parrot up!!). we want to avoid Louvre doors but can’t find a blind that seems small enough. Any ideas?...See MoreIdeas needed on how to update hallway and stairs
Comments (7)My stepson is a plasterer and he usually skims over artex, but yours is very textured so may be worth getting a plasterer in to advise and quote. This is something plasterers deal with daily (oh the fashion for artex in the 80s!) so they really have seen it all before. I think the wooden partition and rails can be done by a carpenter or a builder. The lighting is better sorted by an electrician. So I would start with removal of wood, fit new rail etc, sort out lighting then lastly get the walls plastered. I agree that the carpet does need updating....See Morehow to update a kitchen very cheaply without much time investment?!
Comments (4)The cheapest option is to paint the doors, but it’s also the most time consuming. The units look very French country. I wonder if it is worth all that effort if you are going to change everything in a couple of years? To paint them properly they need a through clean, then a light sand, then painted with 2 coats of primer and then 2 top coats of eggshell. Each coat must be allowed to dry between coats otherwise they will feel tacky. You could get a decorator to do it for you but that normally costs at least £150 + a day so will bust your budget....See Morevanessa2088
