small narrow hallway help
Comments (10)Hello Laura, I think a pendant light could be lovely.. What about a Fiorella light by Nigel Coates for Slamp available at his site. www.nigelcoates.com. It's rather lovely and has a family of other lighting options to go with.. Table lamps in two sizes and also wall light... You could paint the inside of the front door to give it some depth and think of interesting textures perhaps on the artwork idea.. See below.. For colours I thought earthy tones such as those in the canvas could work beautifully with a natural rug and you can layer these colours as you like from the pale in the sky to the earth colours to create the neutral glamour/Scandinavian you like... : )) A lovely convex oval mirror such as this one would be nice over the shoe storage.. A runner like this Jute Stockholm from nuLOOM is rather lovely.. Oil on Canvas.....See MoreHow to decorate a dark narrow hallway with lots of wooden frames?
Comments (9)I'm totally with E D on this one. I actually like the wood, and the pale walls, it has a bit of a Barbican vibe to it. I would consider painting the door at the back a very dark colour such as Railings to shorten the space and install some really good quality LEDs. I would keep it pale, if the pure white is a bit cool then F&B Wimborne White takes the edge off the coolness. You could also put in a really bright vintage runner such as a Moroccan one like this. Etsy has lots of beautiful ones....See MoreNew flooring for narrow hallway
Comments (18)In reference to your comments Keiblem, a ‘parred down’ look will be more suited to the space with minimum investment due to the property going to market in a few years. However, my concern with tiles are that they can present a safety hazard, and particularly in a hall where you come in straight from outside when it has been raining, there is a potential to slip on the tiles and inevitably fall over. I would never suggest a rug either, as once again, can present a precarious situation! The dark wood I have suggested was based on a preference for a darker shade of flooring, and equally the herringbone pattern is still so on trend and is timeless; also it’s easy to clean and slip-proof. As there is also some warmth in this flooring, it presents a more welcoming space,as if it were just all grey, could look rather washed out and without character. Comments (5)I don’t know where you are based or what your budget is, however have you considered small individual reproduction tiles as opposed to the large tile that you are looking at? It gives you lots more options! We used Alternative Tiles in Derby when we re-tiled our Victorian porch - it’s their area of specialism (they work nationally too). We gave them a couple of photos and dimensions and they then did several designs on the computer that they emailed across. We were able to go back and forth until we got the design for us. We then bought the tiles and used an independent tiler who only works with those tiles. http://www.alternativetiles.co.uk/victorian_floors.html. It’s not that cheap though because it’s labour intensive - but they look amazing and can be made completely bespoke to you....See Morembj0
