Comments (2)I installed all oak doors, linings, architraves and skirtings in my house and they look great. As above we always use pellets to cover the screw holes running with the grain and you hardly notice them. My walls were very bad at the bottom where the skirting touched so i rebated the back of the skirtings to allow them to sit upright properly. Due to movement don't miter the internal corners. Its much better to butt and scribe them so any shrinkage doesnt open the joint as noticeably. If cost is an issue then ash is a cheaper alternative and looks very similar....See MorePainting architraves and internal doors
Comments (9)I have similar (fire)doors in my flat and painted one of them white. Not a great look. T Gray's association with a fire exit comes close. :) I can't quite make out whether I like the look in combination with the black posts etc.or not. It looks good in the close up, with quite a retro feel to it, but perhaps within the context of the the house they may well be a bit of an eyesore. In that case, yes replace them....See MoreDoes colour of skirting and architrave need to match?

Comments (13)Yes architrave and skirting works well in the wall colour. Makes the ceiling higher and you don’t have the contrast with white skirting boards which can make a room feel smaller too. Or your original suggestion could work, I just wasn’t keen on the actual colours personally but I’m not great with colour 😂...See MoreLongden Doors Ltd
