Master Bedroom - I do not know where to start?!
Comments (12)Hi Claire. How much wardrobe space do you actually need? If you built in front of the ensuite with a faux door that would give you c7ft. I've found a pic showing what that would look like with the corridor. You could always add an extra freestanding wardrobe in the nursery or alternatively have wardrobes opposite the bed and obviously stop them c4ft short of the window. I think the bed could go on either long wall TBH and assuming you want a dressing table then have that opposite with a chair in the corner. I love shagreen ATM so would have a shagreen feature wall, this is by Osborne and little (2nd pic) and also comes in grey shades but there are a number around. Colour scheme I'd go for grey, mustard and linen shades with some black and brass for accessories. The dressing table (console) is by Shropshire design and I'd add a cube footstool to this. I think a wood floor looks good for a boudoir look, these 2 are vinyl planks by amtico and the dark colour would look great against brass. Lampshade is by Oka and chair by rowan and wren. Perhaps just pile up some pillows on the bed and add mustard velvet cushions with a draped faux fur throw. I'd add black framed art behind the bedside lamps and a tall potted plant by the doors would also look good. I'd probably just go for Roman blinds for the door and windows, you may be able to squeeze dress curtains with hold backs in too but looks as if they would slightly cover the radiators?...See MoreNew York Loft style open plan - where to start from?
Comments (14)Thank you all for your comments. kl55hp your project sounds equally exciting. One thing that I learned so far is the need for light, big windows, big doors!! We have exactly the same dilemma regarding living in the house during the building work; it will save a lot of money as well. You have definitely thought this further than us. Sounds like there is a consensus regarding using a professional to help us make some decisions! OnePlan, thank you for the pictures the colours are spot on. Were thinking of a slightly more modern look by incorporating some gloss cabinets to reflect light etc. Thank you all once more!...See MoreWhere to start for our house renovation - help! ;(
Comments (11)Many thanks for all your comments. Really good food for thoughts. I had a few “loft specialist” quotes and we almost went for it. But the reason we did not is that all those specialist lofts companies were not willing to do the rest of the house (eg electric and plaster/painting in living room/dining room, installation of wooden floor in ground floor, reroofing...) so we would have to employ a separate company for this; which obviously make the project more expensive and not streamlined. I think our project is “small” but maybe it is not :) And does deserve a proper architect /design to start with... I will keep you updated ;)...See MoreMaster Bedroom Mini-Makeover Needed - Not sure where to start !
Comments (34)Another option would be to inject some luxurious fabric or colour in your bedding - quilt, pillows with a floor rug even. Then picking up a colour to work into your lamps shades, or even changing your lamps to something taller. and more striking. Another addition could be a wall hanging of a really fabulous material over the bed head that ties with your bedding choices....See Morejulieanndonnelly
