What a wonderful space...first things first. I would get rid of the small readiator, looks completely wrong. How about a darker colour being added to this wall, as it will complement and pull the room together? Also today you can get sooo many copies of old 4-poster beds or maybe even a modern one, especially as you have the height in the room and this room is just right for a 4-poster! The bedside tables could be painted/paint washed in the same colour as whatever bed you decide to get. Also as I cannot see the entire room, a couple of big armoires would look fantastic, but make sure that they compliment the colour of the bed. Throw one or more Persian carpets down. Add a one or two check of drawers + a desk + a couple of chairs with a small round table between them. Chairs, desk, check of drawers would look great French/Swedish style (have a look at Swoon and Alison at Home). Finally chose you fusions and bed throw, best is to compliment the colour of painted wall behind bed! You have sooo much room in here you could have a ball...and I hope you do...whatever you chose to do, good luck... :) PS! Don't forget a nice big mirror to compliment the furniture... :)

Like all of the mirrors you have chosen, try and imagine the natural wood mirrors landscape rather tha n portrait, if there is sufficient as these would widen the room and reflect more light into that space, if too large either of the other mirrors would work with either 2 lamps, one either side or 1 lamp plus plant or that lovely sculpture on top of your bookcase. Some really lovely ideas!! I really love the idea of making the area around my TV more of a focal point with shelves etc. I do worry about my plaster breaking up around it though! I suppose if it started to crack I could help it on its way and have some exposed brick :) Think I might bite the bullet and have a go hanging some real pictures on the wall and see how it goes. My rug has grey/blue/gold hues so will go find some accessories in the mean time to start pulling the room together. Thanks for all your ideas, i have been thinking for a long time about what I am missing in this house. Finally I got the great idea to turn this space into a 'dog massage parlour' with a big long bench along the wall and two kennels underneath. We have 16 sleddogs and I often give the dogs massages on the floor in the living room. Crouching down is not the best way for doing this, so a massage bench will be handy and the dogs will probably get more massages if I have the right work space.
