Wooden or laminate worktops?
Comments (15)Thank you so much, all of you, for your very helpful advice. It's official - I'm going for wood! As well as all your comments, after I got home tonight I (sunflower) oiled all my wooden table and it looked fantastic, so warm & rich in colour. It was the first thing the hubby noticed when he walked through the door so that tells you something! And I thought that if I can just remember to do this every 6 monthly with the worktops then it really will look fabulous. And that's very interesting about what's happened to your laminate edges Chalkandbell, oh and the tip about wiping the edges dry after use. This advice is exactly what I was after - the kitchen companies will always say it's minimal upkeep but I really needed to hear from those who actually work with it every day. Thank you all. Comments (10)Most worktop suppliers will provide customers with a free sample of worktop providing you don't ask for lots. You can get their information on their websites to request this. In our workshop we have samples of Axiom, Prima, Odyssey, Duropal, Egger and own brands. We are Staffordshire based. Out of all of the above Duropal and Egger are the most boring. There is nothing eye catching in any of their worktops. Prima and Axiom have added some new designs to their ranges but it all depends on whether you want to play safe or dare to be different....See MoreKitchen flooring choice, help please
Comments (20)Hi Ellie, the tiles are Minoli Stelvio walnut glazed porcelain. She got them from my stepson-in-laws tile shop Apex Grange in Welwyn Garden City, but there are other suppliers of course. My sister is rather flattered! She even had a neighbour asking who supplied her new front colour..........I can only bask in her glory :-)...See MoreLaminate flooring in kitchen. Yay or nay?
Comments (10)@tamp75, hi, did you install your floor first - ie does kitchen sit on top of the floor? I am having a new kitchen and Pergo laminate floor - Pergo say to install kitchen first and lay floor around it, but I'm in Spain and both the flooring guy and kitchen company insist to lay floor first. I don't think I'll win the argument! Obsessing about whether or not the floor has room to 'move'. Perhaps I just need to trust the professionals! Glad to hear your floor survived a flood and that you like the flooring....See MoreJonathan
