How are the single bulb pendants junctioned? I have a customer who is after the look of multiple pendants with no individual canopy covers.

A lot of wire. A lot of junction boxes. A lot of laber. A lot of head scratching.

After the lines for each pendant pass through the painted MDF board in the ceiling, they are routed to one of 6 different junction boxes and tied together. Pairs of the junction boxes are then relayed to a singe switch on the wall. In the end, there are three dimmer switches that control the pendant in three groupings of bulbs. The bulbs controlled by each switch are scattered 'randomly' so that if one switch is dimmer than the others, the corresponding bulbs aren't all clumped into one dim area. When the three dimmers are at three different levels it creates a beautiful depth of field effect.

The MDF canopy is removable so that the junction boxes can be accessed in the ceiling.

If you have access to a power socket in the room you could look at some kind of plug in pendant light which you could hang from the ceiling over the dining area. You will have to ensure you have enough cable to do this and think about the neatest way to run the cable from the socket.
