conservatory/dining room
Comments (3)Hi Karen, two things immediately came to mind when I saw your images. Firstly, I would leave the table as it is, by painting it in a conservatory where there can be a lot of light can fade the paint in different places on the table over time. Have you thought of maybe just changing the chairs for an chic-er look. Maybe various shapes and colours sourced from your local tip or second hand store? You could maybe have a set of white wooden chairs sourced from IKEA for example. Also, the corner where there is a tin of paint, I would move your Yukka into that space instead. It looks too cramped on the right hand side. Again with the table, I would leave it bare ( less is more in a conservatory, due to fading and the fact the you don't have much space to play with) . I would place three glass jars on your table with a little sand in the bottom of each and a church candle. Finally, the piece de la resistance the lighting. You could change that for a real statement piece which would look amazing and bring everything together. There are some amazing chandeliers out there that are also very inexpensive. Good luck with your design....See MoreCottage family dining room revamp
Comments (30)Would the Welsh dresser fit in the recess under the stairs, far enough back to not block that window and borrowing the glass section to reflect light? There appears to be more space on that side of the fire - the newly painted dining table could be be positioned to that side of the fireplace. You could then place the couch (OK, I'm an Aussie and we tend to have couches over sofa's!) closer to the fire for a warm reading area and getting benefit of the window and connect with the fireplace Aqua colouring...The free standing chair could be either nearer the window on that side or in the opposite corner near the radiator. Thereby leaving the radiator free, and I assume able to be more effective? Moving furniture around sometimes helps - I do roll my eyes when hubby suggests repositioning furniture to get things right but it usually gets us thinking about how we use spaces!...See MoreHelp needed to decorate my small playroom/spare room (pretty please)
Comments (16)yes I like the jungle idea possibly, though not sure if should keep with ivy as it matches whats currently there.. , not sure about the shelves or seating by the TV though. In the room next door there is an an 8 seater table, and a kitchen island, so its not as though this is the only place to have seating I guess. I like the ideas of natural look, almost Japanese, bamboo, bringing the garden in, just having difficulty with which wall colours, what to do with the post? keep white or make a colourful feature of it, and also what colour sofa bed, rug, paint on the walls to make everything blend in. It's so difficult, can't go for a lightish sofa, as it would just get too dirty, but I'm open to all ideas and very very much appreciate both yours and Rukmini's I have no idea how to put a room pic together like that so it helps massively. They have a lot of friends round, so a comfy rug /beanbags are also great, as long as we can also put them somewhere away too, so they're not in the way...See MoreColours for east-facing kitchen/dining room
Comments (43)Karen, thank you. I liked Mole’s breath and will put it on a samples board. But I think I might also try and squeeze in my blue wall, or at least see how Oval room blue (suggested on F&B website) work on the opposite wall. I already have a sample. Sonia might be pleased that at least someone might be using Oval room blue after all. 😁...See MoreAllison Burnfield McAteer
