We sourced these in Provence - are they marmite?

I don't like them personally and wouldn't give them house room.

However, I can well imagine in the right setting, with the right decor, they could be fabulous. They certainly make an original statement piece.

It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!

The problem is the stark cold white walls against the soft warm browns of the fireplace. I don't recommend going all beige but try colours from the same warm spectrum as the fireplace and I think you'll find it looks more natural in the space. Also, the round candles don't work with the squares and oblongs of the fireplace; find other accessories that enhance rather than scream at the shapes and colours and that could make a huge difference. So could a mirror or picture above it - it would shift the focus so the fireplace doesn't dominate. Work with it, not against, then judge it. These fireplaces are handsome; trying to pretty them doesn't work.

Hi Patricia, You could go for a soft pastel colour palette inspired by Miami Beach to achieve the Art Deco style you’re after. Mix pastels with metallics and bold geometric prints for a 1930’s inspired scheme. I love this Osborne & Little wallpaper below from John Lewis which takes its design influence from the Chrysler Building. http://bit.ly/2fUK6Xf I’d recommend you use a soft neutral paint colour with this wallpaper, such as Dulux Dusted Moss 4, which is a calming neutral with a green tone. Alternatively, a soft grey colour such as Grey Steel 4, which will maintain and light and airy feel. In terms of sofas, you might like the Lune sofa from Fritz Hansen. It's got a lovely Scandinavian style, and is curved and soft, so fits in with lots of different interiors, including an Art Deco room. So Palm Beach Miami! I think they'll be fabulous in the right house/right people. They are a tad outrageous, but that's what's so great about them. Very different. Whoever ends up with them in their house will be very lucky!
