New windows and front update
Comments (2)Hi. I'm not sure if you're just after window/door ideas? You could do similar to this and clad the 2 windows on the left and render the rest. I'd also go for a modern wood door. Again grey windows with 2 panes on the left, 2/3 on the right and the other 2 single. If you're keeping the brick I think french grey (more green than grey) windows look great against red brick but it's not such a contemporary look. Is the long window by the stairs? If so, that may look good if it could be a little longer ( if possible obviously!)...See MoreAn front garden / driveway for a traditional Arts & Crafts style house

Comments (5)Grow a climbing plant and train it to spread along the wall on the left. Put live flowering plants in the hanging basket to the right of your front door and add a row of potted plants beneath the downstairs window and try to conceal the bins. You could paint the fence and scrub the paving stonework with white vinegar and a hard brush to brighten it....See MoreHow can I update the front of the house?
Comments (6)Hello sgsmyth. Kerb appeal will be significantly improved by clever landscaping at the front of the house but for the house itself I'd be inclined to look at the front door and garage area as the main priority for change. Visually, the garage door is overwhelming and the front door underwhelming - try to balance this or even reverse the impact. Blend the window and front door together by increasing the size of both and joining them (the practicality of this idea depends on whether this window is in another room or part of the hall). To reduce the impact of the garage door I suggest replacing it with a panelled door (panels shaped similar to the window panes so you repeat the pattern). When you get around to repainting the fascia boards (currently white) I'd choose a colour that blends with the brickwork, this will draw less attention to the flat roof. If you have the budget, and if you use the garage for storage rather than parking, I'd seriously think about incorporating the garage into the ground floor living space and replacing the garage door with a window. Good luck with your updating!...See MoreGinkgo Leaf Studio
