Dilemma Help: What Is The Best Wood Flooring For Kitchens?
Comments (2)Hi Ocean Home Designs, There are many pro's and cons when installing a floor prior or after the kitchen. An advantage with fitting prior would be it makes life easier to fit a kitchen on top off, as the levels would be a lot easier to work from. Another benefit would be, the flooring will be easier/quicker to install with no kitchen obstructions to go around. On the other hand, some would rather not waste material by going under the units as the floor would just be covered over and never seen again, hence making a saving in material & fitting costs....See MoreCleaning wood floors
Comments (3)We have a property with a Hard Wax Oil floor. It's best to wipe dustier areas with a damp cloth. You can use a 'spray mop' system with a cleaner in it, but this should not be done too often. Obviously a 'steam' system would no be such a good idea as it could potentially soften and lift the wax finish. ( Soap will lift the wax and make a soggy mess that will need to be scraped off ) Daily cleaning should be with a damp mop, no detergent and cold water....See MoreBest cleaning products?
Comments (29)Thanks, vickiphillips78. I have soap scum more than scale - with a water softener, scale is significantly reduced. I'll give Kilrock a try - never seen it and perhaps my branch of Robert Days doesn't sell it but I'll hunt it down; I've looked it up online and it appears to be an independent family business so that's a big plus. Daisy England I don't have a problem at the taps or on the basins, bath, loo; it's the shower walls and floor that I need to tackle - a lot of surface area so I can't see how I can rely on lemon juice and wet cotton balls though useful to know if things change at the taps, etc....See Morebest way for lazy girl to change this to black
Comments (17)Hi there, not sure if you’ve made any progress but hope I can help. Did you use a foam gloss roller or fluffy one? Only asking because I had the same patchy effect when painting downstairs loo with foam roller. Also can depend on the paint used. With water based paints such as the F&B eggshell I think it can show up bubbling more than the oil based ones. For your cabinet I suggest lightly sanding the rough patches and just go for the paintbrush. Work the the paint while it’s wet. Load up the brush so it’s got enough paint to spread around but not dribbling. Don’t work in the paint when it’s drying as this can create a dragging effect and more patchiness so if you’re working close to a radiator or heat source you need to work quickly. Personally I prefer using a fluffy roller for larger surfaces but I think a paintbrush will be just fine. Planning on a similar project myself in the near future using car enamel paint which I imagine is extra gloopy (we’ll see how that goes:)) Hope all goes well. X...See Moregelbard49
