Double pocket doors

How much do the pocket doors cost please? Also, do you create the space in the wall for these doors or does it require a builder?

We added pocket doors during our extension. The builder worked the mechanism into the stud work wall. They fit in a normal 100mm thickness wall.

It's worth noting when done in a wall of this fashion they aren't half as sound proof as normal doors as the wall has far less insulation owing to the door void.

They are amazing space savers though

All our doors are made to measure, so the cost depends on the measurements of the doors. We will supply the sliding mechanism, the doors and the handles and the builder will have to create the stud wall.

You can get flush painted double pocket doors from a price starting from: £1200+VAT +transport, however for the design in the picture the price increases as the doors are handmade luxury doors. For a more acquired cost send your inquiry to contact@doors4uk.co.uk

@Jonathan - I do agree with your view about the corridor which is why I've been dithering about options. Equally though, i'm not sure I want the loo to be so close to the bedroom... don't need to hear the midnight ablutions. ;) I am going to have a play with your idea though - thinking about moving the bathroom to the left but keeping the angular shape to open the space a little bit. Then maybe using a false/two-thirds wall to create a division between a dressing area and the bed, with the bed facing out towards the Juliet balcony.

Hi we have almost exactly the layout in your 3D pictures. We do have glass doors where your TV is shown. Our TV is on the side wall with a sofa facing it (so we can also look from that sofa towards the dining area and garden) and an armchair facing the glass doors. The glass doors mean less furniture is possible in that “snug” area but also means we get light and feeling of space from seeing the front room rather than an enclosed feeling. I‘m glad we have them. We have our sitting area at the back and dining table near the garden like in your 3D mock up. We also have a small sofa towards the garden, on your 3D mock up this would be to the right of the big painting by the dining table. So we have a darker inner sofa area for TV watching and a smaller sofa for sitting in the sun. Admittedly we don’t have a big seating area that sits lots of people all together, right now that’s fine (guests tend to stay at the table anyway, or we move to the front room) but can swap things around if we find we need that as the kids get older.

Long term I would be looking at the whole floor plan. It appears to me (and I concede we haven’t seen the whole plan) that the extension just provides additional small rooms. Perhaps it you had extended rather than the previous owners you might have put a bigger kitchen where the spare room and utility is and had the laundry facilities in the bootroom. To me the kitchen being in a high traffic area will always feel cramped. So perhaps it’s worth getting a long term plan and deciding if that plan changes any immediate plans.

Hi Kristin, I have had a good example of these doors made. They are 4 fire doors turned into 2 oversized sliding barn type doors. The mechanism is housed in a wooden casing, with access for maintenance. If you need anything made I have guys in London who work for me regularly.
