Need ideas for handrails
Comments (6)Hello Bev, Have you considered a wooden rail that is perhaps fixed according to how much weight it's taking and painted to compliment the walls... In this way it's functional but less obvious on the visual side... There are a variety of styles but if you painted any of them they don't define the walkway but still offer the support.. http://www.builderdepot.co.uk/wallfix-softwood-handrail-50mm-x-115mm-sold-per-metre.html : ))...See MorePOLL: Pick your favourite staircase!
Comments (61)The floating staircases are called "cantilever" staircases, they generally require a structural wall because they are steel plates bolted to the wall and clad in whichever timber you like and most popular balustrade would be glass, so they will not suit all house types, the split level staircase, with the landings are easier to produce and can fit in most house types and are still very contemporary, I am also a fan or the curved staircases because I understand the work involved but i would suggest the curved staircase would be more suited to a traditional house type....See MoreWhich Gate is Your Favourite?

Comments (0)We need to secure the garden as we have 3 little dogs, so need some kind of fencing but want it to be softened, with just a hint of a garden behind. Excuse the hand drawn ideas, am no Picasso, the first is a gabion styled planter with trellis behind, but should the stones match with the brick of the house or contrast, as yet we haven't chosen what to do with the driveway. The second is a wooden trough, with a bow stopped fence behind, with some kind of wrought iron panel inserted into fence. Both options would have a wrought iron side gate. I would maybe like the trough to be filled with maybe lavender. Has anyone done anything like this, and grateful any comments or suggestions. Thanks Chris...See MorePamela Langbridge Curtains and Upholstery
