Hi peggysue67 - it can be practical, if you go for a more textured velvet then the marks will show less. Loaf also now offers a clever velvet, which is designed to be more practical and mark less. Laura

From The Makers UK

at http://funique.co.uk you can have 4 types of velvet and some of them could be okay for dogs & cats however if your pets use your sofa with you we wouldn't recommend the velvet.

Also Consider Removable Cover for your sofa...

PS

Magaizne photos are always stunning showing velvet sofas. but honestly are you able to keep this look at typical household when you use the furniture day by day....

We believe Velvet is much better to add some spice to interior ex armchair, accent chair, pouffe etc.

Do you agree ?

I have a gorgeous grey velvet sofa from Habitat and my 2 dogs sleep on it. incredibly, the velvet still looks good. you can actually get rid of any marks fairly easily. you dont scrub it, you gently wipe it with a wet cloth and a tiny amount of washing up liquid. there are different approaches on youtube.
