One of the features of the original building would have been the way that light was used. Lighting was expensive and tended to be used only where needed. In this modern interpretation of that principle, lighting is, again, only used where it is needed.
Focused downlighting in the ceiling become possible when desks are fixed to the floor thanks to modern telecom and electrical requirements.
