Tim designed our relatively small garden. We really appreciated his friendly, yet professional approach and found that all communication, from the original discussion, through to the design, the planting plan and the project management was easy and detailed. We really have enjoyed spending time in the refreshed garden so much - relaxing and watching the plants grow.

I would not hesitate to recommend Tim Mackley Garden Design. From his initial, no obligation visit, Tim was open to the brief, knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting ideas for our two small garden spaces. After taking samples of the soil, Tim sent over very clear and colourful drawings of his designs with all the plants and trees labelled.. He swapped plants in and out until we were 100% happy with the scheme. We booked in the job and he was very clear about what he would need clearing to prepare the spaces, even recommending tree surgeons and lawn companies. The job itself took less than a week and Tim was clear in his communication and very punctual. The schedule and prices did not change. We are really pleased with the design and the vast improvement to our front and back gardens. I shall look forward to seeing everything grow. An excellent all round service.

We commissioned Tim to redesign our small garden. It was a sensitive project for us because we were using a small inheritance from my mother - a keen gardener who always despaired at my lack of green fingers. The site is also quite shaded, and had proved challenging to keep things alive. Tim was very responsive to our needs, and produced a plan which used the strengths of the existing garden and complemented our home and style well, and developed a planting scheme which we were delighted with. Tim also project managed the work, commissioning landscapers and electricians who he works with regularly. We’re delighted with the result, and have spent more more time in the garden since the project was completed this month than we had for the previous year.

After going around the houses with several other designers that would only work on commission for building the garden (and so were all putting our budget up by 50%), we found Tim, who had a great portfolio and was happy to work on a reasonable fixed fee. He was quick, friendly, and able to deliver us exactly what we wanted, a smart looking low maintenance garden, with lots of great design suggestions. We would recommend Tim for all projects large and small.

Tim is very knowledgeable and does plenty of research to ensure you get the best from your outdoor space, he is professional, answers any questions you have but gets the job done in the time frame stated. I was extremely happy with the design work and planting services that Tim provided for my small garden. Tim designed a beautiful space for me to use for many years to come. Tim's process is very thorough and clear - he provided me with a first draft of a design, talked through it with me and gave me the chance to discuss what I liked and if there was anything that I didn't (there wasn't) before drawing up the final plans. After finalising the design, Tim drew up an extremely detailed schedule of works for a contractor to follow, minimising the risk of any confusion or mistakes. Tim was also very helpful in recommending a contractor to do the landscaping which gave me great confidence in the works being done. Tim is extremely friendly, helpful and professional and I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking to transform their outdoor space. Sitting in my beautiful garden in Dulwich I feel as if I am in my own private Chelsea Garden. Tim has created spaces that link beautifully and bring me joy each and every day. It is a haven. He really listened to my brief and interpreted it quite brilliantly. It is probably the best investment I ever made in my home for the pleasure it gives me. He has also done a tiny garden in Deal for us and a large garden at my family home in Wales. Not only a brilliant gardener Tim is also a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to work with. I have given a date for the first project but Tim has now done three for us. He still works for us.

Tim was very quick to reposed to my initial enquiry and to come round to discuss our requirements. He asked all the right questions about what we wanted and produced a lovely planting plan which he came round to discuss. He planted it all out for us very efficiently. While in the first Summer the plan was somewhat hijacked by loads of forget-me-nots in the Spring and then a myriad of unexpected massive poppies in early Summer it still looks wonderful and we're looking forward to year 2. I can highly recommend him.
