My first house needs new furniture
Comments (37)Thanks guys. Comfort has been important to us. One of the reasons I like most leather sofas is that they can be quite firm and supportive. I hate sinking into a sofa and then struggling to get out. Wife likes fabric because it's more comfortable - she finds leather very cold in winter for example. But we both agree on the firmness so we have been trying out sofas. The wallpaper is generally very light - it doesn't come across as overpowering in real life. It's certainly more interesting than plain white/magnolia/cream walls. We both struggle with artistic vision so ideas and thoughts are what we both need to help decide. The aim was to have light/plain furniture and then have bright or contrasting colours for cushions, curtains and lampshades for example. Something to contrast with the "plain" decor....See MoreTrying to find a nice couch to match my livingroom
Comments (8)I have been looking and yet to find one as the leather ones are really modern! Are you sure fabric won't work in a deep purple or slate if stain guarded? The other option is a 3 seater leathers Chesterfield and maybe a plum fabric chair. Chesterfields I personally think can either look very masculine or feminine depending on what they're paired with but ideally you'd want a slim one...See MorePOLL: Dark vs light furniture?
Comments (98)Our home is a comfort driven election of many types of timber and styles having been donated bits from great grandparents, grandparents, parents and even a friend's old pine kitchen table that had been chewed by her dog! We may be awarded any trophies for our home but it is full of memories of our 50 years of marriage. The only bit of furniture I really do not like and regret buying is a tipple galas shelved TV unit. It is almost impossible to keep clean. Gilly...See MoreContemporary mixed with oriental!
Comments (69)Hello comegetme.. the pics are really coming along.. I do feel the red is too prominent with the calmer colours in the room... I would personally try to find something that offers "red" but not quite in such a bold way.. Unless the rear wall was red too... I like the bottom version but the sofa and chair still stand out too much.. I think layering with throws is fine, maybe a beige and a colour that accents the walls of said bottom image.. .. Over 1 side to break up the brown is all you need to do.. Maybe a little table lamp in red too and you have the cushions.. Looking good! : ))...See Morelilyhammer1
