What did you use for this roofing structure. This will work for me.

Want to add a covered deck, but do not want to lose light from windows in house. I think this will work. What did you use for this roofing structure?

The roofing is a polycarbonate roof material and comes in lengths of 16'. There is a small variaty of finishes including translucent white, clear, and the one in this picture which is tinted or smoak finish. The structure is sunwood treated lumber with pressure treated posts and beam.

From a radiator expert's viewpoint, the key is ensuring you heat the room adequately and for bathrooms we keep them warmer generally due to lack of clothes! If you call us on 01274 515734 with your room measurements and your towel radiator measurements and we can advise if the towel rail you have currently is suitable. You don't want to buy a new radiator if there is no need! Going for a "dual fuel" radiator is also a good suggestion as these come with a summer heating element for use when the central heating is turned off. We offer these on all our ladder style towel radiators. Keeping the bathroom warm will help with condensation but it can't eliminate it. The steam condenses on a cold surface, so good insulation and keeping the water level to a minimum is very important. So add cavity wall, double glazing, if possible and encourage the steam to escape with open windows and good extractor fans. However from personal experience, this is often still not enough and a squigee and an old towel for drying those prone areas before the mould develops is your best bet. Although it is a pain to dry the shower after use, it is much easier than trying to remove mould later on. Good luck! I can sympathise! Regards A rubbish housekeeper :)

Thank you - it’s already been dug out and I’ve added a mix of crazy paving down the centre with a large pot in the middle (with a cordyline in) and plum slate chippings for now. I’m really hoping that any bluebells can’t get through the 2 layers of heavy duty weed barrier and the stones, ha ha. If they do then I can just pull the sheets back and remove them. Yes there is a budlea by the canopy and I keep trimming it down so it stays fairly short for now until I find an alternative plant to put there that’s not so tall and likes sun (evergreen preferably) The left side with the large cordyline (seems to be dying off - is this normal in autumn??) has had a good clear out and I’ve also planted a palm and red cordyline type bush along with some other tropical feeling evergreens. Seemed a shame to remove it right now.

We had a 'planning consultant' he was about a fifth of the cost of the architect, as to be fair we knew exactly what we wanted, just needed to know how to get there. They say they offer:- Architectural plans for planning permission • Architectural plans for building regulations • Architectural plans for listed building consent • Sectional drawings of fenestration • Design and access statements • Justification statements • Landscaping plans We paid him for drawings, I think he employed a structural engineer for the steels calcs, we have 13 steels in the house now, as we took a lot of walls out and converted the loft (was a bungalow) Hope this helps, Julie
