Save me from spoiling my new kitchen!
Comments (45)Hi really love your kitchen - lovely mix of cool, contemporary clean lines with the dash of colour: fantastic! I can understand your dilemma wrt the dining area. I'd tend to echo many of the previous comments - I would go for a smaller, simpler mirror with a plainer (probably white) frame and then I think there are a few options on table & chairs. White would work well - both for table and chairs - and then I'd jazz it up with some orange cushions and a nice runner or table mats. Really liked the white (Ikea?) chairs proposed by Joanna Zygo here: And the table works too. Alternatively, I like the grey/wood table you proposed (the second one), although I wonder if the style is a little "chunky" - thinner, simpler lines may work best with your very sleek units. While I recognise the "dangers" other have flagged wrt using too much white, I really think it would work here, and would really accentuate the inspired use of the orange highlights. As it currently stands, with the mirror and chrome table/chairs, I don't really get the full impact of those gorgeous orange lampshades - and they should be the stars of the show!...See MoreHelp needed with furnishings
Comments (1)I think these kitchen units can be used with any colours. Can you take your inspiration from your sofa? If not choose two colours that you like and use these. I would likely choose a petrol blue for the chairs and barstools, add a painted wall in the same colour and then choose a brighter accent such as yellow and use it with restraint in cushions, glassware, lamps etc I would probably keep the splashback faithful to the kitchen rather than trying make it a feature- I would continue the worktop up the wall but if you prefer glass then I would choose a similar colour to the worktop....See MoreBar stools - Which colour do you prefer?
Comments (2)Of these two I would go natural, as I think that the black and chrome looks a little stark and cold. Now if you had black and brass........See Morewall mounted bar stools/swing out stools?
Comments (4)If you want the seats to swing out from the island be sure to check that the island is substantial enough to take the load, also that the island is well anchored to the floor. If you consider the arm is for example 2 feet long, then sitting on the extende seat will be the same as applying your full weight to a crowbar, two people sitting on one side would destroy a normally constructed island. Similarly, if fitted to a wall make sure that they are anchored well and that the wall structure is suitable. A nice idea to save space though...See MoreSarah McColm
