What practical feature/item do you secretly crave for your house?
Comments (98)Lights which automatically turn on when I enter a room (especially in the kitchen and in the hallway from the bedroom to the bathroom) and lights inside my wardrobes (especially inside the one in the bedroom: I often get up earlier than my hubby, and it may be still dark outside, and I don't want to wake him up while I'm looking for my stockings)....See Morekitchen layout for main sink on island
Comments (3)Hi there, If at all possible we would suggest to not have the sink on the island. It is completely up to you, but we have found a lot of our clients like to have the sink against the wall. The sink area tends to be a bit messy with pots and pans waiting to be washed. You could fit your tall cabinets, hob and sink area along the back wall and leave the island completely clear of appliances or the sink. As the island will be a nice size it will give you tons of prep area and when you have guests around it'll be a great social and serving area. Do you have a plan of the room? We would be happy to take a look at it to help you along with the layout of the room. We hope this helps, The team at Modus...See Moreis white concrete practical in the U.K.?

I’m planning on having the coarse cut bricks rendered when weather is warm enough which will hopefully finish off the modernising. As you can see there is an integral sort of verandah under the main roof which we have used lots for outside sofa and dining table. But, whilst the sett patio is very useful and really holds the heat, tbh I think they’re a bit ugly. Does anyone have any suggestions? What made me think of white concrete is I’ve really liked the snow covering the patio, but I’m open to other suggestions....See MoreIs my island big enough for a prep sink>
Comments (15)This is the rest of the house. We definitely don’t want a sink on the island. The pocket door is something my wife would like so we can see our children in the family room next door; I initially wasn’t sure but I’ve come round to the idea. I agree it would open up layout options. The pocket door does have an advantage you can get between the family room and garden room without passing the kitchen. Rotating by 180 degrees is a possibility....See MoreHeidi Dyke
