Curtains or shutters, or both?

I need some help deciding on what to get for my great rooms, I'd love to get plantation shutters for the two small windows but not to sure what to get for the sliding doors? Any ideas?

Look at this pictures. Wood traverse rood with sheer for sliding door - easy open and close (one way left on this picture). And Silhouette on windows. Shutters - good idea, in this case you don't need curtains.

Sometimes if you just add a character of text it will allow you to upload a photo or try to save it to your ideabook and upload a houzz photo. When I said I hadn't seen shutters with curtains I was forgetting my own house, lol! In my defence we decorated some of the house before moving in so I didn't really see them in situ and when we viewed the house the curtains were hiding the shutters so it was a lovely find! It's hard to expand the pic but the bracket for the pole must have extended past the door frame allowing the curtains to close. My shutters don't sit completely flush either although they're not the ones that fold back on an angle like the first pic I attached

Whatever you do, do not have pure silk curtains, unless you are prepared to fit a blind as well. I made the mistake of buying silk curtains from Laura Ashley five years ago and they have started to fray at the edges. I do blame myself as I knew silk was not as durable as synthetic but I fell for them and hoped by having them lined and interlined they would be ok. I was wrong, as they are in a bedroom with great views I really didn't want to fit a blind as well. I am going to have to now and have the curtains repaired, by putting an edge on them in a different colour, they were far too expensive to change for new curtains as the window is very wide and the curtains are floor length, plus, they look good in the room, apart from the fact they are fraying! To start with I might just swop the curtains over, rather than have them altered, but I am certainly having a roller blind fitted, it will have to be plain white and in use when nobody is staying, luckily the bedroom is a guest room.

One thing to bare in mind is that the price of shutters can be quite high so if you are looking to save some money, consider blinds for your kitchen and master bedroom windows. White wood venetian blinds can achieve a similar effect to shutters. If you are looking to create privacy without blocking all the light, you may wish to consider sunscreen roller blinds. Hi there, your flat looks great! I understand your dilemma which is accentuated by opening inwards windows. For the kitchen I’d be tempted to use a Simple Fit or Perfect Fit pleated blind within the frame of the window. It would fold into a small stack when not in use to allow plenty of light. A Roman blind behind a sink and tap is not really very practical. Alternatively you could consider a roller blind face fixed or ceiling fixed. in the dining room, again Simple Fit or Perfect Fit within the frame for practical purposes then dress the window with a pretty single linen voile curtain on a ceiling fix track stacked to the right hand side. This could be repeated in the lounge stacked to the left. also, as the fabric would be fine and unlined you could draw it across the windows without impacting heat from the radiators.
