What's your Friday routine?
Comments (6)As a Seventh-day Adventist, we celebrate Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. This means that many SDAs spend Friday afternoons preparing for the Sabbath by cleaning their homes, taking out the trash, pre-preparing casseroles and other food for Sabbath dinner so that they only need to be put in the oven and baked, and doing any necessary shopping. If you actually work for the church, you usually work longer days Monday through Thursday and get off at noon on Friday to allow for this. Here's a funny video a friend shared with me about what it can be like 5 minutes before sundown on Friday in an SDA household. http://youtu.be/7qSPiUUuuXI...See MoreWhat's your worst dinner party experience?
Comments (29)Alas there are several- one early on in married life, my first meal for mother in law and sister in law and husband, I put 2 oz of salt in fruit flan for dessert, instead of 2 oz of sugar! Everyone was very polite and said nothing until I did, then they all agreed it was awful and we had cheese and biscuits and chocolates instead. When cooking for other relatives of my husbands, a bit of metal evidently fell off the hand whisk into the dessert and, (fortunately) I got the biggest piece in a mouth fall, breaking a tooth off completely! We once appeared at a new neighbors for a meal a week early, dressed to the nines with a bottle of wine, a week early (they looked utterly confused but invited us in and we had a takeaway instead amid much laughter). Likewise, we went to a work colleague of my husbands, and his wife with the usual bottle of wine etc. Unfortunately they turned out to be deeply religious, totally against alcohol of any sort and spent the entire evening trying to convert us from our heathen life and preaching hell fire at us....See MoreHow often do you change your dishcloth?
Comments (30)At least daily here. I changed to washable cloths (flannels) specifically so I could do this: it's very expensive to change a store bought cloth every day. I also change the tea towel and kitchen hand towel daily. They absolutely need it as well. The tea towel gets soaked several times/day. It does depend on how large the household is and how much time is spent in the house though. If it's a single person or couple who both work outside the home, eat dinner out a lot etc, a weekly change is no big deal. I'm at home every day, with friends and family passing through all the time, so the kitchen is very heavily used....See MoreWhat day of the week do you do laundry?
Comments (34)When I worked full time it tended to be Saturday mornings, but now I am at home I do it when I have a load full. Also I like to, when possible, dry my washing outside and so this also has an impact on when I do the washing....See MoreClare Jones
