The shelves were purpose designed and built, so you would need to employ a designer to draw up the design for you.

Hi Tani, Can I start by saying what a cool space you have! You can see you've made it your own and I love the use of plants. So, what about an upcycle? I think a small sideboard unit or dresser would look amazing. A solid wood so you could give it a light sand, then really you could go wild with a charcoal, graphite or white. OR just to throw something a little wild out there a natural rattan style wood could look amazing as it would bounce so well off all the natural plants and foliage you have in there. If you find one with a couple of small side drawers you could look at cutting the drawer fronts off the boxes, joining the fronts together and adding hinges to one side then this could house the printer. Drill a hole through the back panel where needed and all cables etc can feed through there saving there being unsightly wires under the unit. I would love to see what you go for, please do update us. Hello, Your desk looks like it is melamine with a wood grain effect and not a real wood veneer. This means that you will not be able to stain it to match the shelves. If it was real wood veneer then this could be possible but unfortunately your only option is to paint it a colour with a paint that is suitable for melamine. Thanks Dean 2D Carpentry

Ideally, you'd employ an architect, but with a limited budget, maybe a joiner who specialises in building staircases would be a good start?

That’s very clever Marina. I love the snug . I had a bit of a rearrange of our existing furniture yesterday and think I’ve convinced them to have an l shaped sofa by the window and in front of the fire. We’ll use the space on the left wall for the office and also have some space for our daughters to do their art and school homework. The existing sofa and cabinet are pieces that we brought back with us when we moved from Florida back to the UK, and to be honest, they have always been a bit too big for a UK home. Because of the conservatory (which has internal thermal panelling, the room can be a bit dark, so instead of the dark partition, do you think something like glass bricks would work?
