My kitchen has white cupboards and black surfaces, would you decorate it with a bright colour? Like the kettle and all to match?

depends - i probably woudnt - but im a quiet sort of person - but ive seen some beautiful bright kitchens so know if you you like that sort of thing it can work wonderfully !

Hi, mine is the same but we are indeed adding splashes of colour with things like a picture, shelf & vases.
Personally, I would always stick to neutral appliances ie silver or black, and use paint or accessories to decorate that cost less to replace when your bored of the colour.

Love your kitchen, you’ve done a great job, not only does the kitchen look good, it’s totally practical, drawers are the way forward, even if they are more expensive than cupboards. I’ve just redone a kitchen in a house we rent out, the old one was finally falling apart. I was going to go to Howdens and use the joiner etc we knew, but in the end we used a small local company, which cost us £300 more, but the quality of their interior cabinets and doors was so outstanding, plus they could do everything, including tiling, we went with them. We didn’t change the floor, but did everything necessary, I’m hoping it lasts well and our tenants look after it!

Fiza, if you are going to rent out your home I wouldn’t fit an expensive kitchen unless your home is a large luxury home. After all tenants may not care for it the way you would. My kitchen is a 12 year old Wrens kitchen. It was fitted by my brother as Wrens didn’t do installations at that time. It’s okay, just that. Nothing special. It cost £5500 including appliances, worktop, sink etc. My sister recently had a new, fantastic quality German kitchen installed. Can’t remember the brand or the price (the quartz worktops cost £5000 alone). The difference is incredible and I think anyone will be able to see the difference immediately. Next time I will use an independent kitchen company as I have learnt they cater to all budgets, not just high end. I would like to add that Daisy has been a member of Houzz for many years and her advice has been invaluable. She has never advertised her business or pushed people to use it on this forum. The only time she does so is if members ask for her details and then she messages them privately. We get lots of spammers on Houzz, but Daisy isn’t one of them.

Considering removing kitchen wall that separates kitchen from hallway

Combine the living room and kitchen by taking both walls out and going open plan. Then as previous comment add a door to the hallway for separate bedroom wing. Just doing the kitchen wall will feel odd and make it like a corridor.

backlit splashbacks are a great way to add colour. We have some stunning recycled glass splashbacks made from recycled glass bottles which look great backlit.
