I have just had my very small bathroom tiled. I used very large white oblong tiles on three walls to give it a sense of space and it has worked very well, and then very small oblong tiles on one wall for a design feature. I am very pleased with the result. My advice would be to go for the largest tile.

Personally I don't think it will work with white subway tiles on the walls. If the white of the subway tiles is different then that may be a problem, also the sizes of the tiles need to work. I would say there should be a substantial difference in size in the floor tiles and the walls tiles, otherwise it may look mismatched and a bit busy. This floor tiles is lovely but quite 'attention seeking'. It would look good with something like polished plaster walls - which is not what you want. What size are these tiles?

I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. You also need to be careful tHat it doesn't become busy by the number of cuts needed for the tiles though!

Hi Zack, grout line in the middle is not very nice and it's normally avoided. 60x60 tiles are more modern compared with 45x45 but generally speaking you should run one full tile 60x60 in the middle and two halves on each side. If you have a good quality picture of your hallway and a quality picture of the tile(s) I can generate a CGI (computer generated image) to show you what your hallway would look like.
