What a terrible question to have to consider- How could you ever choose??? Many say family photos - but you know what - if I lost mine it wouldn't matter too much because I can remember my life in pictures - I was there. We take so many photos on our phone and never look at them we need to try to think back more and remember. My cat? Well, he's not a possession - he chooses to live with us and we are his servants! I suppose it would have to be my first guitar I used professionally - a 1950/early 60s (?) Hofner Congress. Here - have a laugh, this is me in about 1978: The guitar lasted better than I did !

I can't help but speculate that perhaps the reason so many houses featured are London based or more high-end properties is because most of the case studies are uploaded by architecture or design professionals who employ professional photographers to show off the finished results. These services aren't cheap and I don't imagine these companies get too many requests from owners of smaller 30's - 70's era homes, especially from outside the capital, because the homeowners won't see a return on the investment. I would have thought requesting design-savvy home owners load more of their own photo's would help bridge the gap. Perhaps on the next newsletter you can ask homeowners to consider contributing any photos of spaces they are particularly proud of?

Hi Laura, I think you need to bear in mind that this is a walk way through to the dining area and it is at the bottom of the stairs. So we can't go for something very large. I would agree that a radiator cover is a good idea. In white is will help break the colour up and hide the radiator but it will also give a ledge. I would place a plant for a nice vibrant feel adding some great freshness to the space and maybe the odd accessories - so 'a' book with a candle or small vase. A picture above it will help bring some accent colour into the space which you can take from your own furnishings or introduced. Based on the width of cover you go for - I see a plug there - so you could also add another layer and height of lighting with a lamp. This will add a great feel to the space. The colour of the wall paint will depend on the amount and direction of the sunlight and will change when the artificial light is on and even on a different wall of the same room. I’d go for a cooler greyer tones. However be aware some greys can look greener with different lighting. Choose some samples, paint them on a large piece of paper and hang them in different walls of the room, look at them during the day and evening. You might find out that you like whites and greys with yellow and red undertones more. The blue pieces are very nice and will go very well with your light brown sofa It’s a very nice rug. I like the Middle Eastern style.
