Have you got any ideas to make this house look fantastic?
Comments (32)Hi, If you use an iPad you could download the free Dulux Visualizer app to look at different colours - it's quick and easy (but lighting conditions have to be good) For a cost effective transformation I would have to agree with you and most of the comments by painting the Front door, garage doors and windows of the house. (Use a good primer/undercoat like Zinsser external - shellac or oil based) I would advise all matching colours for a uniform country home feel. The olive green or light green looks nice. For the driveway you could go resin bound which is available in a variety of colours now and lasts much longer than Tarmac with far greater osmosis. Again adding the private home country estate feel at a reasonable price. Rendering comes in various colours (although it is costly) if within your budget will totally transform the look and feel adding to the thermal insulation. And most definitely some easy care, low maintenance plants and planters... You don't have to spend mega bucks! Although probably a good time for discounted evergreens? Comments (11)Hello Tom, would have thought having a pet dog or cat sleeping in the bedroom, was far more 'dangerous' - and we know plenty of people do that. Am so lucky with my largest bedroom ever - placed in the middle of a table near the window, have an inspiring burgeoning magnificently large spider plant which has produced over 12 babies in the last 6 weeks! It's happy, and so am I. When I get organised I want to get one of those fin-de-siecle or Edwardian-style plant stands, for the spider plant to look elegant from. Have never seen any insects on my healthy spider plants and it seems to be happy with high heating temperatures which won't work with ferns or some palms. I believe the more organic living references (not lonely pets if you are out all day) we can have in our living spaces, probably the better for our psychological health. So, if you don't have green fingers, or find plants create mess, the twigs referred to above, or dried flowers, are good too....See MoreMaximising space in a bedroom without a built-in wardrobe.
Comments (9)Without seeing the space it's difficult to advice, however if you have a wall you can use, then you could built it in with open storage solutions as per your needs - without a frame and doors you can save loads of space, then you could hide it all behind a layered panel curtain that covers your whole wall. With the panel curtain you can add colour & pattern too, it can give the pleasure of a nice wallpaper. This solution would also come a lot cheaper then buying different pieces of furniture...See Moregood house plan?
Comments (2)Really sorry but I don’t like this layout. Firstly I don’t think there is enough space for car parking on the front. Presumably there is a central front door where it says veranda as well as the kitchen door and I don’t like the two doors in the front because I think it confuses visitors, I think the veranda entrance area is oversized at the expense of the living room but lacking in storage, I think in Feng shui terms the bathroom over the front door is a strict no, I feel that a squarer lounge is easier to furnish, the glass across the back looks great but I worry that it is close to the boundary, won’t have a view and therefore create privacy issues. The stairs in the kitchen limit space and in my opinion are dangerous and would likely complicate building regs in the UK. If you are going to have the upstairs tv area open plan it would make more sense to have it at the top of the stairs so you need less corridor space, in my opinion the master bedroom should be noticeably larger than the other bedrooms, I feel that the bathrooms are too small, there should be planned storage room for clothes and linen and the washing machine and I think that it could have been planned so all the plumbing is closer to each other which would reduce construction costs. I am sure you were hoping for a more positive response but I think if you could visualise this plan you would realise it is flawed. A designer, concept planner or architect could all help....See MoreSharon Bouchard
