Our lounge/ drawing room - need inspiration please!!!
Comments (16)Hi Diana. Re your windows I would look at something like this (dining room pics in link) http://www.drivenbydecor.com/2015/05/window-treatments-tricky-recessed-corner-windows.html 0r have a voile blind inside the recess and the curtains hung outside to give more height to the room. I'd go for a pole that doesn't contrast with the wall colour. Farrow and ball blackened may work for the walls (which way does the room face? I'm assuming some of the pics are a little dark as you didn't have any light behind you when taking the pic?!). Were you planning on dressing the feature window? As you've got cool and warm greys I'd layer them so a warm grey sofa with a cool grey or maybe blue ikat cushion. I'd have seating at right angles to the fire, sofa to the right of the fire with a lamp table closest to the fire and 2 accent chairs opposite, patterned ones might be nice. I'd go for large art over the fire rather than a mirror as you've got the window, perhaps a landscape. In terms of the look you want, perhaps look at velvet for the sofa. Lamps will add cosiness, a driftwood lamp will give the natural look. Add texture for the seating, perhaps a patterned cushion in front of a textured one and a textured throw on the other arm of the sofa. Also use plants and perhaps some faux flowers (I like oka faux hydrangea but it needs to be mixed with foliage). Perhaps a brass glass coffee table to add some warmth with some coffee tables books and the flowers!...See MoreCan I see your aga/range colour schemes please?
Comments (7)here is the link http://www.rangemaster.co.uk/products/range-cookers/classic-deluxe/classic-deluxe-90-dual-fuel lots of other colours available but the only other colour we like is the pearl. Unfortunately don't have plans on phone, however all of the other appliances will be integrated and we are having a butler sink. Wooden worktop will be oak, the cabinets colour is described as cashmere, it's almost a sandy grey. It's an L shaped kitchen, the cooker will be the centre of the shorter L. We are extending a 250year old cottage, think low ceilings, beams, exposed stonework.... so trying to compliment that really....See Morewall colour inspiration please
Comments (3)Hi, do you mean a wall colour? I see very little wall space in your picture. Is it for another wall?...See MoreInspire me please!
Comments (2)What's at the other end of the room Dan? Can you put a picture up? Have you got a budget in mind? The first thing that springs to mind for me is that the focal point in your room is your TV and it might be worth considering buying (possibly 2nd hand) a fire surround with electric fire - log burner style. You could hang your mirror above it and move your tv unit to one side so it's not such a 'feature'. The side tables should come to the side on the couch and you could use the drum stool as a foot stool in front of the lovely armchair. If it were my room I'd replace the curtain rail for one that goes the while width of the wall and have curtains drawn back in the day to reveal the window but in the evening will cover the whole wall. This will def help the room appear wider, especially if the curtains are neutral. As for colours/patterns, I think these are really personal and there are people on here who are much better at advising on colour combinations than I am - although it would be helpful if you could also upload a couple of rooms you like that you'd like to achieve in your home. Oh, I'd also suggest painting your TV unit and side tables if they're staying but again, not sure what colour until we know a bit more about this 'natural ' look....See MoreJill Gittins
