You are correct, it is porcelain. We have had a lot of comments about the floor on this one. Seems to have the look of limestone but without the cost!

Porcelain is a tough tile which will not crack or break easily. they are very long lasting. vinyl is out dated and just doesn't look good. Your other option should be ceramic tiles. So it should be between ceramic and porcelain. I'd still recommend porcelain but ceramic is cheaper, that's the biggest advantage of ceramic. I bought these porcelain tiles two weeks ago, they look lovely. beautiful hexagon porcelain tiles

Hi Wendy. Limestone floors are just as hardwearing as porcelain tiles. There are plenty of good stone sealers and cleaners on the market which make their maintenance easy and simple. We always recommend sealing the tiles really well before they are laid (surface and sides) and then another layer of sealer once they are fitted and grouted. Also, natural stone is just that - natural - so you should expect some natural 'ageing' of some tiles the longer they are down. We think this adds to their character and appeal! We have Amtico in two of our bathrooms and our kitchen and it is fabulous. I can't fault it. It costs a bit more than other makes but it is very good. We have underfloor heating in the kitchen. If you do go with Amtico, as it can be quite pricey, make sure you get a fitter who is certified by Amtico, it's better to be safe than sorry.
