POLL: Do you make your own Christmas wreaths?
Comments (16)Living in the country, the wreath makes itself, almost, I usually make the framework from vines, either the exuberant Russian vine or as this year the ornamental grape "Brandt" which has a very stable structure. Both of these can be roughly braided and formed into a wreath. Leave them a week or two to rest and harden into a good circle. Next I stuff into it, a combination of greenery. Sometimes the silvery greys of the flower garden, or deep greens of the forest. Then I collect the charms of the hedgerow and vegetable garden, seed heads, of all sorts and sometimes a few faded hydrangea flowers. Long strands of Ivy are useful for binding everything in if you are not adding a string of lights. I enjoy filling out the wreath over a series of days or weather opportunities. Every year it is different and I love the way it reflects the recent growing season....See MorePOLL: Where do you keep your bin?
Comments (23)We have a small bin under the sink for non recycling things, black plastic, the pods from my coffee machine, dirty kitchen roll etc., which before 5p a bag started, used to be lined with a shopping bag, now I save the planet by buying a roll of bin bags! We also have a small food compost bin next to it, which I buy special bags for from amazon. Then, in the garage, which is next to the utility room we have the paper, tin, glass, plastic recycling boxes, the big food bin with the strong lid and the larger general waste bin which is collected every fortnight. I hate seeing bins outside houses and think that the new bin system which requires such a collection of bins has meant some terraced houses in our area have gone down in value, the residents are not always tidy and the council should provide better ways of collecting and dealing with rubbish when people find it hard to store it out of sight. Seeing bins around is one of my big pet hates!...See MorePOLL: Do you change your home according to the seasons?
Comments (44)Yes, absolutely. It's great to add small changes in your home, even if it is changing the flowers in the room to daffodils for the spring time or putting a pop of colour with cushions for the sofa, a small change can make the difference in any room. Decorating for the seasonal festive i.e. Halloween or Christmas is also a big part of showing your unique style in how you decorate....See MorePOLL: Do you have a home cinema?
Comments (21)A Home cinema is a great thing to have, we have one. If you're thinking of it, we recommend considering flexibility and the fullest possible use for the room where you may have your finest sound system, as well as cinema screen. A snug place for family and friends to gather and enjoy time together, separate from the living room, retractable screen, perhaps a library or gaming centre. With the right layout and design you could have retractable walls at one end to open up those facilities and sound system for wider enjoyment and larger parties....See MoreTony McIntyre
