Anybody out there designing or building a large luxury zero carbon home?

I have designed several low energy luxury homes, but not a zero carBon home. That would an interesting challenge.

You could start by looking at PassivHaus as a benchmark. It's an excellent tried and tested standard to measure carbon load against.

Hi, I am in the Southern Hemisphere. I would like to know about fengshui rules please. I am not a night worker and work Monday to Friday office hours. I have never thought about eating the evening meal in the sun. I would think probably not. There are tall trees facing north east that do shed leaves during autumn (fall) Thanks

1930's House facelift help please

Hey So the latest update is that we're still busy with the project but in the closing stages. We've done a lot of work inside more than originally planned we've gutted the house and replaced everything and changed the floor plan to modernise it and make more of an open plan space downstairs. We've done the rear extension which is now dedicated to kitchen with a central island running parallel with the doors . On the outside the house has had external insulation fitted and new render which makes it look new. I've attached some recent pics. Richard

Lights which automatically turn on when I enter a room (especially in the kitchen and in the hallway from the bedroom to the bathroom) and lights inside my wardrobes (especially inside the one in the bedroom: I often get up earlier than my hubby, and it may be still dark outside, and I don't want to wake him up while I'm looking for my stockings).

I install home automation equipment and lighting controls. I don't have a TV in the house : ) I do though, have a projector with a retractable screen. This has totally changed the way we watch TV. We only watch what we want to - which is mainly programs recorded via Youview or films. When the projector isn't on, the screen is out of sight in the ceiling and the room is setup for more social activities. Personally, I couldn't be without the radio. We have speakers in every room for this and music in general. Upstairs this is done with inceiling speakers so again, it is a discrete system.
