Comments (14)Greg think you have made a great start, just needs a few colourful statement pieces. Firstly the chest of drawers are fab, my suggestion if you like them would be to utilise them in the lounge either side of the radiator under the window, for storing what looks like cd's the other side of the fireplace in these. You could put the existing cubes either side of the two sofa's. I would ditch the rug in the lounge, and get something bold and bright such as cobalt blue with orange/yellow. In the bedroom, keep the IKEA drawers and paint them either black or dark blue and have them adjacent to each other on the back wall opposite the bed, with the TV on top as someone has already suggested. The art work is great, but would swap it over to where the mirror is and move that elsewhere. Again ditch the rug, maybe an animal skin would work well in here, keeping a masculine feel. Pick some of the colours from the artwork for a well chosen throw and cushions for the bed, and don't be afraid to use some other accessories such as vases, lamps and dare I say candles!...See MoreI need help please on what colour of curtain I need
Comments (7)I agree with the grey suggestions. Purples and grays always look great together. I'd go with something that was a grey and white print...check out West Elm, they always have some great ones....See MoreHelp, need help updating my rented living room!
Comments (4)Hi Claire, You have a lovely space to work with and it’s great to hear that you’re up for doing a bit of DIY! In regards to the coffee table, go for it! It’s a lovely design and will complement the characteristics of the room perfectly. I’d dress the table with a gorgeous green plant - not only will this add vibrant colour, but also adds life to your space and is guaranteed to make you smile. As suggested by Minnie, a floor standing plant situated underneath your fitted wall shelves will add a feature to this corner of your room. If you fancy doing a little bit of painting, why not head to your nearest charity shop and find a sweet side table to place to the left of your sofa or either side of your armchair? Choose your favourite Dulux paint colour (in a Satinwood finish) and paint your table to add a personalised touch to your space! This will create such a lovely statement as you enter the room, especially if you choose a beautiful blue to create that coastal look. Adding a side lamp to the side table will add height and a lovely ambiance to your room, especially in the evenings when you’re snuggled up watching TV. To give your IKEA unit a fresh look, dress it with these lovely storage boxes which will work so perfectly with the scheme you want to achieve: http://goo.gl/zrKf2u Finally, if your budget stretches, take a look at these lovely cushions from Dunelm. The prices are amazing and I think they will finish the look so well. Comments (3)Hi Kathy, loving the blue upholstery on your bed. Very coastal and calming. A great focal point and start to what you trying to achieve [and the dresser too!] You have some great ideas. - have you thought of pendants by either side of the bed instead or just stick to your wall sconces [will give you much lighter / cosier feel]_black string = not bound to finish choices for the lighting body? [you could still use wall sconces - sconces also can go above the dresser [you have lots of options on mixing & matching] - you can relocate the pendant where the door is - where the fan is here [just close it off] - for walls, I would go for breezy/ coastal blue paint to add some life here or sand colour textured wallpaper - start with wall first & the rest will follow naturally and you will expand on with great confidence Message me if you are stuck or need pointing in the right direction.
