Tranquil Forest Bedroom Ideas

I'm trying to create a tranquil woodland/forest bedroom space with neutral peaceful colours and accents but could use some help to draw it together before I begin.
The main pieces I have are below in pictures, the forest mural is purchased but not yet on the wall. The flooring is dark wood and so is the bed and bedside tables. We have a beautiful large sheepskin rug which we'd like to include. Walls are currently magnolia - no curtains yet. Any ideas for lighting/accents/soft furnishings or example pictures would be welcomed!

Hide a TV in bedroom
Comments (14)Hi, To answer a couple of your questions. With a picture frame or mirror infront of a TV, there is a mechanism that moves the picture out of the way. The picture can move left or right, up or down. There are also versions that split the picture so that it goes both left and right. It is also possible to build a custom furniture unit below the TV to allow the picture to drop into this. One company that I've used that make these products is Future Automation. I really like the combination of blush pink with grey, navy and minty green - I think this could really create something special in your space. I love Dulux Sicilian Summer 6, however for a paler shade, why not have a look at Dulux Burnt Autumn 6? Comments (27)Hi, The room is lovely. It's clean and contemporary and gives the feel you want. If you want it to feel more grand you need to think more grand. A larger headboard. You need it dominate the space. Grey is fine but increase the height by at least double what you can see already. The bed needs to be focal and will stop the 'flat' feeling that some people are getting. Same with curtains. Go over sized, draped on the floor luxurious texture. You're getting there. It's a great space. If you add colour it will take away from the crisp look and style the space has now so maybe play around with it but I don't think it's required for what you are trying to achieve. Comments (7)I think you need the architectural features to pull something like this off otherwise in a basic box shape room it can look a bit o.t.t. (see pics, although I do think the grass rug is fun:)). But just having a nod to it in art, a few accessories, fancy mirror or light fitting or maybe an item of furniture and you can get the theme but not so overwhelming. So I’ve got some tree silhouette bedside lights which I love and a bargain french style chair from gumtree, then kind of veered off a bit and started with a winter beach type colour scheme (see my inspo pic). Still work in progress but happy with it and it’s lovely and tranquil for a bedroom....See More

9 years agoI agree with Jonathan, I think muted, earthy tones would look really nice here and create a calm and quiet space. This pic, although it has lighter wooden accents, has a nice colour scheme.

9 years agowell, as far as lighting and you wanting a forest look, what about this type of light fixture? or something like it? i'm only suggesting it, as it looks contemporary but it reminds me of a pinecone.

9 years agoI would say go OUT there if you want to make a nature inspired room. How about a featured wallpaper? Like trees or something on the wall where the bed is.

9 years agoI think all the above answers are great, i think a very soft light grey/green on the walls would be great, would remind me of a woodland mist.
alant1000 answer with raw woods is also a great idea, to use maybe wooden coat hooks, curtain tie backs, curtain pole, the list could go on.... you could take it as far as branches that have been properly treated attached to edges of shelves and walls to create a great woodland effect, you could cluster a group of branches on a wall with lights like the image below. But again depends how far you want to take it :)

Thoughts on this light shade for the main ceiling light? It's called 'sunlight through leaves' and I think it compliments the mural quite nicely.

9 years agoIts lovely and would work well. If you wanted any other options John lewis to a great Lampshade which when the light is on projects a Forrest shadow in the room, their are other shades that so similar but this one is a fraction of the cost and also comes with side lamps as well. see link below:

9 years agoThe Forms in Nature light from Hilden and Diaz is my all time favorite . It projects forest shadows on the walls and ceiling. They have just begun commercial production. Don't know how difficult or expensive it it to obtain one, but it think it's fantastic.

8 years agoMaybe adding a fake window looking out onto a beautiful lake side or a growing wall added for effect alive or fake.

Have you considered lighting the plant pot you have with one of these. It throws the light upwards creating shadows through the foliage as shown in the photo...

8 years agoWe already have two big windows in the room so now just looking for some artwork to complement the mural.
My husband found some great tealight holders that really work with the theme - two pine cones and the faux antler. I've also added brown and amber pebbles to my glass candle bowls which catch the light in a pretty way, and I've got a great new little light feature in the corner - long twigs with fairy lights that look great at bedtime!
