Wood parquet in New kitchen

How Would you install wood parquet in a kitchen? Do you install kitchen cabinets first then tile the floor surrounding them, or you install the floor then mount the cabinets on top?
What works better for the parquet?

Hello, First, let me tell you that your Kitchen looks great and it's also spacious. I really like it! When you said, you would prefer to have your space light and that you prefer light coloured floor, the first idea it came in my mind it was the Scandinavian Kitchen style, where mostly white or light coloured floor is being used. I very much like white floor or some light grey/brown shades as you can see on the second image. Light oak it's also good idea, however if the furniture is also light oak colour it could happen that your space goes flat and boring. Don't forget that you can always decorate your space with some ornaments to make it look more interesting. Hope this helps! Best wishes

Thank you very much for your comments. Yes I agree regarding the fridge but I have looked at putting in the bottom right corner of the plan (in fact we still can). Am hoping to knock the wall on the right hand side into the dining room in a few years and there is currently a lovely old dresser in that space at the moment. So don't want to put anything too permanent there. Also where you suggested the fridge could go (next to the sink I believe) is where the dishwasher is. Plus a under counter fridge is not big enough for my hungry family unfortunately! Also can you believe that the quotes I've had for Quartz are more expensive than recycled glass!?!?

Looking at your ideabook, you're definitely not after the industrial look with your bricks! This is a more toned down colour scheme which is light and airy and still has warmth to it. Maybe you could add pale grey tiles or splashbacks similar to the worktops in this kitchen. Are you adding flooring just to the kitchen or is this part of a bigger renovation project? I think it would depend on the tone of the oak and the tone of the walnut. I don’t think yellow/orange oak would work with a reddish walnut, but an almost black walnut might work with a grey toned oak floor, especially if there’s darker tones in the oak. However, I would agree not to mix— you already have oak parquet and marble tiles. I think adding a third strong texture could be a step too far. If it was me, I’d either get an oak worktop, marble effect worktop, or a worktop that works with the tones within the marble. Speaking from experience btw—I once combined a harlequin floor, cherry effect worktops, travertine and accent patterned tiles. I hated it, it made me so uncomfortable that less than two years later I covered the splashback tiles with panelling painted to tone with creamy whites on doors and floor. Such a relief! And a much more flexible starting point for adding other colour/bursts of pattern.
