Paint or paper chimney breast? And layout help
Comments (20)Going back to original options with the sofas opposite each other, can you fit a tv unit under the stairs as that could look quite good? With regard to the L shaped arrangement with the tv on the unit, you could drill a circle in the back of the unit and store the play station and sky in there. Another option which I think could work is to swap the dining and living round as the dining end looks bigger. Have one sofa on the kitchen wall with the other opposite ( place the sofas about a foot from both walls) and hang the tv above the radiator. You could make a feature of the room with a built in tv, Sky and radiator cover, as per example attached from Andre hodges. That should still give you at least 4ft for a clear corridor to the kitchen ( on the basis the 7ft measurement you gave was from the side of the kitchen door!) I wouldn't paper the recesses now I've seen the whole room. Maybe considering papering or painting the kitchen wall to Bring the wall in so as to make it feel wider and give more interest to the lounge....See MoreChimney breast / Fireplace / Kitchen question
Comments (7)Here's a few more photos taken when we did the inspection. Might help get a bit more perspective :) It would definitely be a huge hassle to remove. The previous owners had a kitchen table on one side but I'd like a bit of separation and not to be sitting right next to a wall. On the other side they had a ginormous tv (which my Mom is modeling next to) I was thinking that possibly exposing the brick and putting a through fireplace on the other side might make it flow better and give it some character. But then I'm left with the question of where to have the kitchen table....See MoreChimney breast - creating a stylish TV recess
Comments (21)Hello, It seems to me that the chimney sticks out about 350 - 400mm into the room. That's a lot of potential space. The TV is probably 50mm deep. That leaves 300mm of space doing what? I would suggest removing the chimney breast completely throughout the house. This should not cost more than about £5,000. Then I would build a bit of stud for the TV and any other elements I wanted and gain additional space on the ground floor and first floor. If you remove the chimney on the ground floor get an engineer to design a suitable support and remember any structural supports have to be signed off by building control....See MoreStone fireplace/chimney breast in new-build house
Comments (5)Logi, do you have to comment on every post, even if they aren't asking about anything to do with your product. I have just looked at all the latest posts and you have commented on every one. This one is asking about stone and you are trying to flog a bit of metal. Was your marketing brief..."how to alienate potential customers and drive them away"?...See MoreNatalie
