Love the dark flooring on the outside of the bi-fold doors, what type is it?

I think my sister has very similar units to you - cashmere. She chose huge format porcelain tiles for practicality (she has a black lab). You can see more on @hovehomemakeover on instagram. Wood like Sonia suggested would also look lovely, your sister's looks amazing.

Most likely this is engineered wood. It could also be laminate flooring or LVT (luxury vinyl tile). Laminate is the cheapest, but will need replacing. LVT is the next in price, an artificial wood product but very hard wearing. Engineered wood is the most expensive, but has all the pros of wood: individuality, sustainability and will last a lifetime so long as it's looked after well! Hope that helps!

Definitely not black and white. When you see black and white together it dominates as a contrast and so anything else is obliterated. I would try to find a large format tile that is similar to the warm grey in the paper, not too light not too dark. Porcelanosa Dover Topo (I have in my bathroom) may work. It's a gorgeous slightly textured vitrified porcelain.
