This area under the spiral staircase is empty. Any ideas of something spectacular I can do in this space? I was thinking of a nice round mirrored accent table but not found the right one yet

I am a huge fan of plants. I can see an elegant oriental plant holder (or whatever your style is) and some sort of a tree that will grow over the years. If not a tree, some other type of vertical plant. Bottom line is that you are injecting a little bit of natural color, not to mention you have an element that will filter CO2 and give you clean air.

I recommend looking at different pots and plants at a local shop and go that route. Dare I say a small lemon tree? :)

Hi, to me it seems that you have a bit of a patio overkill. You need to know where you want the shaded dining area, a sunny patio area, maybe somewhere where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sun or get the last sunrays on a summer evening. That all depends on how your garden is situated. Do you want to grow vegetables, do you want to spend time attending to flowerbeds (if you do them well, they aren't that time-consuming)? You need to know the size of the garden and draw a rough plan of what you would like to have where. Think it might be a good idea to get a garden designer/landscaper on board. I'd want to remove the lower patio, replace it with grass and flowerbeds, and place the steps from the upper patio in the middle. I think that the quickest way of making the patio edge safer for your fearless toddler, is putting big planters all along the edge. If you decide to change the patio at a later date, you can always reuse the planters elsewhere in the garden. Some inspirational photos for you.

I have removed all vegetation and had digger flatten this area of my bungalow. I now need to out it back together! I'm hoping to lay patio parallel to rear of bungalow (where the sand base is, it was a patio previously) as french doors will open onto that area. Other than that I'm not sure! need some turf, poss some gravel areas. might leave behind garage as chipings/gravel/planting area. any ideas welcome! I have quotes to repair/straighten fences, replace gravel boards and wood panels on right side. was thinking paint the back gravel board fence a charcoal grey. would LOVE any suggestions please.

Hi there, Your idea for your seating area location looks good if you would like to sit in a sunny area (taking your garden aspect into account). A pergola with retractable roof could also work well. A shade sail is a less bulky alternative that could provide you with some shelter from drizzle and light rain as well. I didnt really understand what you meant by "the 2X2 space" where you want to have a shed or utility features? Is it the space by the side of what will be your utility room or in front of it? I agree with Christine. You don't necessarily need to have lawn in your garden. Wide planting beds with a well thought of and placed planting scheme that takes your garden conditions and aesthetic principles into account could potentially add more interest than a lawn with narrow borders on the sides (could also potentially make your garden look wider if the shapes of the borders are chosen correctly). Wide borders combined with a path of some kind could also create a journey through your garden, and again, with well chosen forms, make your garden feel bigger.
