wrong colour kitchen cabinet doors

I extended my kitchen with more units but the time my husband got around to opening them it was too late to return as they're the wrong colour so looking for advice on best paint and method thanks

Although the kitchen is white, it is set into a return where there is little direct light from the very large window which casts shadows in the space making even a white kitchen look sombre by contrast. I would suggest more powerful down lights at least 13W that would highlight and reflected off the stunning gloss units. Additionally you could add plinth lighting under the kitchen units. Cool white to keep it minimalist or RGB ribbon (red, green, blue, which would allow you to colour mix) which can give the kitchen a whole spectrum of characters depending on the colour you choose or both RGB and W to keep your options open. Ribbon light is also a low cost way to improve this space. Ensure you get nothing lower than 9W per metre as it may not have enough light output against the natural light from the window.

French Grey is a lovely colour, I'd live with it for a while and the rug colour may be skewing it a little. I'd add a Roman blind to soften things, style it up a bit and see how you go. On the rug front - I think they are fine in a kitchen. Kitchens often had rugs but now it's frowned upon for some reason but they seem to be making a come-back I'm pleased to say as they add a lovely, comfortable homely feel. Find something washable, ideally a pattern, use underlay to anchor/stick it down if you're worried about slips and trips (depends on weight of rug). Size-wise, don't run it too close to units to avoid worst spills etc. The new synthetic indoor/outdoor rugs will work well or a washable cotton.

Oh no :-/ .... it will be so worth it once you have got it through the window though, it is gorgeous! I'll take a look at the website now - thanks..... if it's any consolation I once bought a sofa that just would not fit into the house. We got it in in the end but it involved getting a very talented upholsterer to take a saw (I felt sick) to my brand new sofa and then re-build it as good as new in the room...phew :-)

I’ve tried local companies aswell as those main stream with no luck. Have contacted the company recommended by Minnie101 - fingers crossed as they have a similar damaged before and after photo. Jonathan, yes, one idea was to replace these two doors I thought about going aqua to match the splash backs in the photo.

As an alternative to painting, you could consider just buying & fitting new replacement doors and selling on your existing (new!) doors through ebay or a local selling site/facebook page. While it may be possible to paint the doors, depending on the finish, the results may be less than perfect and you might be even less pleased with the outcome than your current doors. A badly painted door will have virtually no resale value.

There are many door replacement companies out there, and the prices can be a lot less than you might think. Something to consider perhaps!
