Kitchen wall colour

We have just moved into a house with black granite counter tops and oak cabinets. What colour walls should we paint the walls?

We look at the light coming in to the room, it quit often has a green bias, also you don't mention the floor ? With out a feel for the room I would suggest a colour like Slipper Satin from Farrow and Ball, it works well with light oak.

Thanks for posting. Photo now uploaded, the current walls aren't actually as white as they seem in the picture

So we have decided on Wimborne White on all walls. We plan to add 2 or 3 very large pictures on the radiator wall. If we still feel this is plain we can repaint either this wall or the one with the shelves. Header13 we really like blue and have used it in our south facing bedroom. Carolina I'm afraid to say no. Picking the floor seems to be by far the hardest decision. We really cant decide on light vs (warm) medium grey. We have so many samples and I think it is just making it worse. We feel light should help keep the room bright but could make it all too plain and samey? Darker may give better contrast and more interesting? Lighting in the kitchen is currently really poor (we took the lights down for plastering as they are being replaced) but here is some pictures showing examples of flooring shades we are considering. Most of the colours seem to be falling in these two camps. White oak vs a grey/smoke oak.

You could put all sorts of colours with that.............However, I think going warm and slightly dark works.............Mauve will go with everything including the kitchen and carpet. I think the door and the door wall need to be the same colour, so that it looks more like it's part of the lounge and not an entrance:- A warm grey and raspberry with Teal or Turquoise also work.

I had to laugh when I saw your first pic. For a minute I thought it was our own kitchen under construction! We choose F&B’s Cornforth White, which is actually a lovely warm grey - not too bright, not too dark. Our kitchen is open plan with our dining area, and also has a pocket door through to our lounge. We wanted to paint all 3 rooms the same colour and, to our tastes, white would have been too cold and stark. Good luck!

F&B shaded white is a great colour. Very changeable in different lights which make it interesting. My friend has it with black granite and it looks great

I'm not an interior designer so this is just an opinion. I would put a colour on the patio door wall as it looks like a long and thin room. Then maybe keep the main kitchen wall quite light and a coloured splashback or some interesting tiles behind the range.
