Narrow kitchen/living in new build flat

Hello, we've just bought a small flat in shoreditch, London. It has a long and narrow open plan living and kitchen. I've tried my best to give it some character but it doesn't quite seem to hang together. I'd love to make it feel a bit more trendy and industrial. The book shelf by the window houses the boiler and we were unable to move it elsewhere. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!
