Fireplace or no fireplace?
Comments (5)Hello Angela, A photo of the room would be good.. I agree having not had a tv for nearly 10 years... I definitely hate seeing them in people's living rooms.. I would have a projector and pull down screen from ceiling... Well then back to the question at hand.. I'd say have a wood burner you can get one for as little as £250 and the pellet ones are far more.... The wood burning stoves are fantastic and as much as you might think you may not use it.. In winter there is nothing like having a proper wood burning I get 1 delivery of logs a year and I use them economically... I'm writing this in August and it looks like a monsoon outside! I'm glancing now at the fire and thinking.. Also can you not have your tv and a wood burner? The tv could be in a less overtly visible space.. . : ))...See MoreWhat would you do with this off-centre fireplace?
Comments (63)HI Sarah I love what you have achieved. Many congrats for embracing what you have and creating something that totally enhances the placement of the fireplace. The space looks like it was made for the placement of that perfect chair and you've done a gorgeous job with your selection and placement of art . I am moving with considerable grief from my gorgeous arts and crafts bungalow to an early1970s small house. I have to say this style of architecture in NZ wasnt exactly a highlight. But I set myself a challange to embrace the architecture and look to enhance rather than fight it . That challenge shifted me off my despair track and now I am excited and hopeful and thinking about space and colour and the amazing light pouring in (a quality of houses of this time)..and textures . i feel so cteative in new and diffetent ways...and it's so exciting. seeing what you have achieved - it is very affirming for me I love what you have created....See MoreFireplace or no fireplace
Comments (24)If you do put your TV on a long low console where the fireplace now is, you will most probably have space for a chair in the corner where the TV now is. You could put the floor lamp that is now next to the smaller sofa with that chair, or at least in that corner. Then put lamp that doesn't take up that much space in the corner with the smaller sofa. I hope you'll have enough space left for a coffee table of some sort. Do you know the dimensions of your room? I would have loved to put the coffee table in the right direction, but can only do so much photoshop magic ;-)...See MoreGas fireplace or wood-burning fireplace
Comments (19)Hi, yes they're actual flames with all the natural movement and variation you'd expect (and the volume of flames/heat output is controllable with it being gas). When the stove is set up, there are ceramic 'logs' and embers positioned (that do look very realistic) and also some stuff that looks like wire that they call Emberglow. This wiry stuff is near invisible and spread/clumped at the bottom and this causes the flames to vary and lick and dance upwards. We were worried a fake wood burner would look naff and were disappointed when we knew we couldn't have the real thing, but went to see this in action in a showroom and were impressed! It helps that the model we have also comes as a real wood burner and the cast body is identical for both....See MoreHoneybee Interiors and Joinery
