How about putting the chest of drawers under the window so it is visible when you first walk into the room. Then put the desk where the chest of drawers is currently. I would then get a large storage TV unit for the end wall where the dark furniture is. This would be best in white or taupe to keep it light in that end of the room. You could even get this made in the same units as the kitchen cupboards. I would buy new 3 seater sofas in a traditional or classic style to suit the antiques in a beige colour linen and then two armchairs in a patterned material - floral or stripe to suit your personal taste. I would keep the sofas in the same position and place the two armchairs facing the TV unit, side by side. You would need to make sure the armchairs were placed so they were easy to walk around and they would need to be small but comfortable. Keep the table where it is and update the lamp to a more statement piece. An orchid (fake or real) on the chest of drawers would add a touch of class. I quite like the rug that is there as it goes nicely with the antiques and you could bring out the blues with a few duck egg blue coloured cushions, and a duck egg blue roman blind would soften the window. Just some ideas.... I'd love to see photos when you've finished, it's a lovely space!

By the way, Maria ... I bought the teacups at none other than at a Wilko store (UK)!! They often have some lovely accent items there. Also, at Amazon UK, I purchased a number of very realist flicker battery candles, to cast a gorgeous, romantic evening glow. My three oak furniture pieces were expensive, as was the sofa, but honestly, all the finishing touches are very affordable and were vital in creating the look I was after. I'm so glad you like it. The green wall, (with pink accents), is daring, but I find it very relaxing. As for the fireplace and fire, they were purchased separately. I tracked down the Georgian-style surround on eBay, and the 'electric' fire, from Dimplex. I hope all this is of some use. Jeanette

Hi Tani, Can I start by saying what a cool space you have! You can see you've made it your own and I love the use of plants. So, what about an upcycle? I think a small sideboard unit or dresser would look amazing. A solid wood so you could give it a light sand, then really you could go wild with a charcoal, graphite or white. OR just to throw something a little wild out there a natural rattan style wood could look amazing as it would bounce so well off all the natural plants and foliage you have in there. If you find one with a couple of small side drawers you could look at cutting the drawer fronts off the boxes, joining the fronts together and adding hinges to one side then this could house the printer. Drill a hole through the back panel where needed and all cables etc can feed through there saving there being unsightly wires under the unit. I would love to see what you go for, please do update us. That’s very clever Marina. I love the snug . I had a bit of a rearrange of our existing furniture yesterday and think I’ve convinced them to have an l shaped sofa by the window and in front of the fire. We’ll use the space on the left wall for the office and also have some space for our daughters to do their art and school homework. The existing sofa and cabinet are pieces that we brought back with us when we moved from Florida back to the UK, and to be honest, they have always been a bit too big for a UK home. Because of the conservatory (which has internal thermal panelling, the room can be a bit dark, so instead of the dark partition, do you think something like glass bricks would work?
