Help choosing rug for lounge

Hi,
I need some help choosing a rug to got at the foot of my red L-shaped sofa to make it a bit more homely and warmer for my son when he plays on the floor with his toys.
I was thinking of a 120x170cm. It needs to be easy to clean and not too light so that it shows marks with 4 children and cat end dog. I did have a Turkish Kilim down which looked nice, but slid around even with an anti slip mat underneath. So would like a thicker rug, like a wool/polypropylene mix.
I would like something to lift the room with some pattern and colour. The walls are painted a light mossy green, don't want red as will be too much with the red sofa.
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as I'm a bit overwhelmed. Many thanks
