My partner and I have just moved into our new home, a sixties built house, and we are looking at remoddling the kitchen. What we are trying to do is to remove all the wall cabinets and store everything in draws and cupboards below. I have a utility room where the washing machine is stored so I don't have to worry about that.
One problem that we see is with one of the windows. From floor to the top of the window sill is 72cm while a standard work top seems to be about 90cm. My builder suggests removing the window and replacing it with a smaller one. But that's a no go for several reasons, mainly cost and as the house is red brick it could damage the outside look
Can anyone suggest how we might overcome this problem. I'm thinking that with a good fitter we should be able to run a worktop right into the window and put in some sort of filler for want of a better word.
Any of the images I've seen so far show the sink at that position but the sink is currently under another window and there is no real reason to change it. We plan on this run of units been storage for the likes of pots and pans.
Can you make any suggestions, point me to any images?
Thanks guys this really is a wonderful site.
Cara.
