wall colour and sofa choice and everything else. help!

hi fellow houzzers. I'm usually very confident making choices but am struggling and need advice. ive lost my vision for this room. its open plan and is a work in progress. we have a walnut herringbone floor with tartan carpet in the centre to make the living space feel cosy when chilling once kids are in bed. I've dark grey fabric for curtains thinking of being made with silver tassels with a triple pleat top. we are getting the iggy sofa hopefully from sofa.com in elephant grey velvet. not ordered yet so advice on that is welcomed. I have lots of light coming from 4 sets of french doors so would love to go for dark grey walls. is this all too much? the carpet is a feature as is heavily patterned so feel that everything else should be plain but sumptuous. I've included pictures of sample paint on our walls in this room. we are at the very beginning of this project so please forgive the novice quality of pictures. furniture etc in the room is temporary so all advice welcomed. basically I think I'm regretting the carpet choice and it's not an option to change it. eek. have left wires for 5 wall lights and will have a chandelier over each island. thanks in advance.

They can look at the whole scheme and provide you with a "whole look" Even if it's one piece of furniture or two there's accessories and considerations... At loaf I love Jonesy, Bagsie and Pudding... Have a look and see what you think. They send samples with a little sachet of hot chocolate, so if you're not deciding with someone like me, you can sup a cup and mull over the colours and styles you like for the pair you go for. They only offer a bespoke service? Sound a bit scary! Can you pm me a price estimate if you've had something similar previously? Comments (8)We can recommend the Candle Light Paint from Valspar (they can mix it for you at b&q). Then you can add yellow velvet cushions on a grey/ light blue sofa? Have a look at sofa.com and Loaf. They do sofas in the colour tone you are looking for. Carpet colour in beige would look chic and you won't get bored of it as it will allow you to be a bit more playful with furniture and cushions. I hope you find this useful! 9 years agocarpet is dark grey, taupe and stone. TV is temporary and oh was measuring the other day for a bigger one!! we always knew the TV was too small. we came from a much smaller house where that tv dominated the lounge lol. for sofas was planning on 2x 4 sweaters plus 2x fireside chairs. and deffo storage behind the sofas somehow for dvds etc. we have this area also that we're planning to do built in dining. I was thinking a 50p shape upholstered seated area and round table. we have a very young family and are planning more kids so won't get the use our of formal dining for many years yet. excuse the house as we're still trying to get cleared after christmas. I'm definitely doing the lighter paint!! what do you think about sofa choice?? I've taken two pics of our intended dining area so you can see where it is in the room. again temp ugly furniture in place lol.

9 years agothe room is incredibly bare at the minute especially once tree is gone. I was thinking about having two occasional chairs for decor to replace the Christmas tree as that space has nothing in it and is quite a big area on its own. we're definitely getting a bigger tv lol. it's rediculous looking tbh. I wear glasses and can barely see the screen. I watch TV in my bedroom if there's something I want to see. hadn't thought of foliage. I'll look into this. just have to be wary of crawling babies and one particularly curious toddler lol. I'll put side tables in the sofa area with lamps. I adore oversized lamps. we put sockets on the floor to allow for this so there's no trailing leads to walls. I think once I get the curtains on it will fill the room greatly. I've a photo of the fabric.
