Perfect grey paint

I have booked a decorator to paint our hall, stairs and landing but still need to pick paint. I want a warm grey colour - not too dark but a definite colour with a tinge of green in it. Help me please. The clock is ticking and I need to find the perfect colour. Thanks!!

Isn't SW American? Not much use in the UK! It depends on your light. I find farrow and ball's 'neutral' tones are often quite grey-green in my house: eg, clunch, lime white, also strong white is a grey despite the name.

Oh, and laura ashley's pale french grey might be just what you want as well as cheaper than F&B!

I had a very similar dilemma recently trying to find a "perfect" grey for my bedroom. I struggled for months getting a shade I liked without a strong undertone. Like you've said, i found plenty of shades I loved online then when I sampled them on my wall they looked totally different - mainly due to lighting differences so I feel your pain. I had the samples painted on my white walls so that probably helped. I don't know how strong/dark/light of a grey you're wanting to aim for but I could attach photos of the different samples I had on my walls before making my decision if that may help? The paint I ended up going with is dulux warm pewter but I would recommend valspar too, although I admittedly tried plenty from f&b too

Hi House Hunter, choosing the right shade of grey can be very difficult actually, it depends so much on the individual room and the amount of light etc. plus the look you're trying to achieve etc. Farrow & Ball and Little Greene are both great options, Dulux (in my opinion) just never achieves the same kind of finish or depth of colour. A really helpful book is 'Shades of Grey' by Kate Watson Smyth - I'd definitely recommend reading before choosing which to go for, it's a really interesting read for tips on choosing paint colours in general actually (not just grey!). Thank you so much for all this info. Does anyone happen to have the colour mix code for a valsper sample tin. Took the codes today and they said they can’t scale the size down enough for a sample pot and obviously I want to try the colour in our lighting first?

Here are some examples for light, airy living rooms with brown leather furniture. In smaller spaces, the trick is to use furniture with visible legs and clean lines. So you can see the floor under it, makes the space look larger and it also doesn't block the light so much. Same goes for armrests that aren't very bulky. As you can see in the examples, the open armrests of the chairs let through light and aren't blocking your view through the space.
